Days and Nights in the Forest Young Friends of Film Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:30pm Days and Nights in the Forest is screening in the First Light series on Sunday, April 26 at 4pm and Monday, Apr 27 at 6:30pm. Screened in the eighth New York Film Festival, Ray’s “magical film about some friends who go off for a week with Nature” tracks four city boys through their separate misadventures with local women. Lust, true love, fast sex, and brooding revenge all mix with the social informality their big-city breeding attaches to the new, unfamiliar environment, creating an explosive and imaginative variation on the coming-of-age story. Often counted among Ray’s Mozart or Chekhov-inspired masterpieces, Days and Nights in the Forest presents a filmmaker in dominant form as he balances his characters’ social consciences—or lack thereof—with a profound emotional complexity.
