The story begins where part one ends: with Mesrine’s escape from a Canadian prison and return to France. Already an enigmatic media celebrity adept at controlling his own image, Mesrine becomes a master of disguise capable of posing as a police inspector in Deauville (before robbing its casino) or a doctor while visiting his dying father. He even flirts with politics, imagining his attacks on French society in line with the exploits of the Red Brigades or the Baader-Meinhof Gang. Soon, his increasing daring exacts its toll, as his nemesis, Inspector Broussard (Olivier Gourmet), waits for one slipup to get his man.
