The Girl in Room 20 screening with Yamekraw Series: Oscar Micheaux [2009] The Girl in Room 20 Spencer Williams, USA, 1946; 63m Small-town gospel singer Daisy Mae (Geraldine Brock) heads north to the address of an old family friend. She finds only a house of ill repute, whose madame invites Daisy Mae “to come right in.” Fortunately, her cab driver Joe (Spencer Williams) becomes her guardian angel, whisking her off to a respectable hotel. But the forces of big city evil don’t give up so easily. This showcase for singer Geraldine Brock features a lively pace and a terrific assortment of supporting characters.
