GOLDEN SILENTS PRESENTS Man with a Movie Camera Friday, July 17, at 7pm Alloy Orchestra on stage Following through on his belief that cinema should be an art built on everyday experience “without the help of intertitles, without the help of a story, without the help of theatre,” Soviet documentary director Dziga Vertov—along with this wife/editor Elizaveta Svilova and brother/cinematographer Mikhail Kaufman—took to the streets of Moscow, Kiev, Odessa, and other cities to fashion this exhilarating, day-in-the-life portrait of an industrialized society on the rise.
