Bad Company Robert Benton, U.S., 1972, 92 m From the writers of Bonnie and Clyde, came this Civil War-era Western about a group of young draft dodgers who travel West to seek safety, fame and fortune. Instead, the country only provides hardship and lawlessness where they’re forced to scrap, steal and fight to survive. It’s an especially tough education for Drew Dixon who comes from a family with strong moral fiber. Jake Rumsey, played by a very young Jeff Bridges, is a con man and the pack’s leader who shows him the ropes. Shot strikingly by legendary cinematographer Gordon Willis, the film was the directorial debut of Robert Benton who later in his career garnered three Academy Awards.
