The animated short remains one of the liveliest and least heralded of film forms - where would our childhoods have been without it? So we're pleased to do our part in keeping the faith by hosting the premiere of this touring compilation of brand-new and classic animated shorts from around the world, assembled by Mike (Beavis and Butt-Head) Judge and Academy Award-nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt. The 14 selections in the program include new works by Judge and Herzfeldt themselves, an excerpt from Disney legend Ward Kimball's 1957 program Mars and Beyond, Japanese master Koji Yamamura's Mt. Head, Chris Stenner, Arvid Uibel, and Heidi Wittlinger's claymated Rocks, Swiss artist George Schwizgebel's painterly La Course ą l'ambīme, Ruairi Robinson and Seamus Byrne's futuristic 50% Grey, Bill Plympton's Parking, MAD TV Stop-motion master Corky Quakenbush's Ricardo Shorts, the bizarre Ident by Aardman's own Richard Goleszowski, Winnipeg wonder Cordell Barker's multiple-award-winning Strange Invaders, Polish animator Tomek Baginski's gorgeous The Cathedral and much more, including a surprise!
